My heart breaks for all of those involved in the violence in Baltimore. However, through these sad times we have also seen images of extremely kind acts between residents of Baltimore and the police. I praise God that love is conquering the hate and violence in this city.
Regardless about how we feel about the situation, we are called to pray for all of those involved, both the protesters and the police. I pray for love, comfort, peace, joy, and wisdom for these people who are children of God.
John 13: 34-35 (KJV): A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Leviticus 19: 18 (KJV): Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.
Mark 12: 28-31 (KJV):And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
