Earlier in the week USA today reported on the “pay it forward” chain at a Starbucks in St. Petersburg, FL. It is so great to see strangers doing something kind for one another. God call us to share what we have and this story shows that sharing can be a small act of kindness to a stranger.
Luke 3:11 (KJV)- He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
Isaiah 58:7 (KJV) -Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
I love this next verse!
John 6:9 (KJV) – There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
Sometimes we forget that nothing is impossible for God. God can take 5 loaves of bread and two fishes and feed thousands. Just imagine what He could do with one act of kindness towards a stranger by each of us.
Most importantly, we are called to share. We must remember that everything we have belongs to God. We only have temporary possession of the things He has given us. We are to use all that He has given us to uplift and help others.
I challenge all of us to do something kind for a stranger over this labor day weekend.
